BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING (FIRE)

 

CAPACITY : 30 Seats

DURATION : 1/2 years (including 6 months practical attachment with leading Fire Services anywhere in India ).

OBJECTIVE : To impart the training to the students for such a lengthy duration to make them fit to face any situation regarding Fire and Rescue operation. To formulate the prevention and protection arrangements and related Fire service Management to run a fire Station in smooth manner.

 

The Degree of Bachelor of Engineering , B.E. (Fire) is awarded by Nagpur University, Nagpur. The successful candidates are eligible for appointment in the officer cadre in Fire Service of central, State, Central undertaking ,State undertaking, Major companies from corporate sector, and Government owned research and development organizations.

ELIGIBILITY :

 

  1. Age : Between 19 and 23 years, Relaxation in age is permissible to SC/ST Departmentally sponsored candidates up to 5 years.
  2. Educational Qualifications : Final B.Sc. from Nagpur University or its equivalent with chemistry and either physics or mathematics or both as optional subjects but must have passed B.Sc. I year or its equivalent with chemistry, Physics & Mathematics. candidate who appeared/appearing in final examination of B.Sc. in 2003 are also eligible for Entrance examination but their final admission will depend on production of documentary proof/evidence of having successfully passes B.Sc. , at the time of admission.
  3. Physical standards : Candidate should be physically fit and free from organic disease of any sort to undergo strenuous practical training. candidate must enclose a medical certificate from a registered medical certificate from a Registered Medical practitioner along with his application form, certifying that he is physically and medically fit in all respects. Minimum acceptable physical standards for the said courses are as under :
  4. § Height : 165 cms.
  5. § Weight : 50 kgs.
  6. § Chest : 81 cms. (unexpanded), 86 cms. (expanded)
  7. § Vision : 6/6, Preferably without any aid.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE :

 

  1. Candidate are selected through All India Entrance Examination. Advertisement and detailed information is published in all leading newspapers of the country, normally during the month of March/April and the entrance examination is conducted in the month of July every year.
  2. The candidates are finally selected based on the overall merit of the written examination by Viva Voce to be held at National Fire service College, Nagpur.

 

  1. COURSE CONTENTS :

 

  1. It has a multi disciplinary approach, containing the elements of fire ,civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering, Psychology, Paramedics and law. It also covers the various aspects of fire prevention, Fire control and Investigation into the causes of Fires.
  2. NOTE : The detailed syllabus of the course can be obtained from the Nagpur university, on payment of prescribed amount.
